Project Features

The 229 MW Asrit-Kedam HPP will have normal operating levels upstream at the intake of 1,714.8 m and downstream at the powerhouse site of 1,500 m for a gross head of 214.8 m.

The structures at the intake site comprise a weir (including a gated spillway and a sluiceway across the river), a head regulator and a desander.

A single, 10.05 km long concrete lined headrace tunnel with diameter optimized at 7.4 m diameter will be constructed from the intake to the surge shaft to transit the rated flow of 120cumec

An underground powerhouse is recommended using an underground transformer gallery, a tailrace channel, a switchyard and a 220 kV line for transmission of electrical power from theproject a distance of some 25 km to an interconnection at the Madian Grid Station.

The upstream barrage is located near the Asrit village just downstream the tailrace of the upstream Kalam-Asrit Hydropower project. The headrace tunnel is located on the right bank ofthe the Swat River and leads to the proposed powerhouse at the Kedam village. The powerhouse will be located some 2.5 km upstream of the Kedam Bridge.

The powerhouse will have 3 units of 60.9 MW and 1 unit of 32.2 MW for a total nominal poweroutput of 229 MW.The average annual energy production is 911.53 GWh based on the 44-year hydrologicalrecord.
